This row of shophouses on the right side of Jalan Pasar, Batu Pahat will amaze anyone who passes by this street. It has the characteristics of eclectic and oriental style design while in front of it there are several art deco style buildings. This row of shophouses clearly displays special relief plaster carvings with animal motifs on the walls on the facade of the building. Among the animals found in these relief carvings are tigers, birds, dragons, peacocks, fish, chickens, monkeys, lions, elephants as well as impressive flora motifs. These animal-shaped motifs are not the same between one unit and the adjacent shophouse units. The animal-shaped wall sculpture motifs on the row of buildings here and also other buildings found in Bandar Penggaram can be considered a 'genius loci' (genius of a place) result of the wisdom of the sculptors and builders of the building at that time who placed great emphasis on the uniqueness of the image and identity of this city.
