Rumah Agam Tan Swee Hoe

Tan Swee Hoe had business and property interests in Batu Pahat and his magnificent mansion on Jalan Kluang was one of the finest in the town. Now the mansion is just a roofless structure. Tan Swee Hoe had previously served as President of the Batu Pahat Chinese Chamber of Commerce for two terms and was a director of Bank Ho Hong, Batu Pahat. He was a member of the Johor State Council and was awarded the S. M. J. (Loyal to the Crown of Johor) in December 1929 in conjunction with the birthday of the Sultan of Johor. In celebration, his Majesty held a lavish dinner at the mansion, which was attended by the Regent of Johor, the Tengku Mahkota. Tan Swee Hoe was also the patron of the small Datuk Gong temple located on the side of the road to his mansion. The road that branches off Jalan Kluang opposite the temple is named Jalan Tan Swee Hoe, after him.
